Hole 1                                           Par4 - 410 yards

A lengthy dog-leg right to begin the opening hole, with bunkers on either side of the fairway in the landing area off the tee. An accurate drive here will leave a relatively straightforward approach shot.

Hole 2                                           Par4 - 444 yards

The ideal tee-shot is down the left side of this fairway to make the approach shot easier to this sloping green that is well-protected by bunkers.

Hole 3                                           Par4 - 370 yards

Water lurks all the way down the left side of this par 4 but a straight drive will only leave a short iron approach to a green virtually surrounded by sand.

Hole 4                                           Par5 - 487 yards

A hugely difficult par 5 where only the brave will attempt to reach in two. Fairway bunkers line the right of the tee, soon followed by water, and with more than a dozen bunkers scattered around the length of this holetrouble lurks everywhere

Hole 5                                           Par3 - 143 yards

A great little par 3 where accuracy is the name of the game. It might only need a short iron but the target is a small one and to miss the green could prove costly.

Hole 6                                           Par4 - 430 yards

A truly testing par 4 hole. Water lies all along the right side and there is little margin for error with the approach shot with bunkers left of the green and water right.

Hole 7                                           Par4 - 386 yards

Once again water lies the length of this hole on the left, along with well-positioned bunkers in the landing area off the tee. The approach from the right means a carry over a bunker to this narrow green.

Hole 8                                           Par3 - 216 yards

A hugely testing par 3 if the wind is blowing. The tee shot is all over water and the slope on the two-tiered green is very severe.

Hole 9                                           Par5 - 530 yards

A truly tough finishing hole with a 200 yard carry over water off the tee, from where it is unlikely many players will get home in two shots. The ideal lay-up area will leave a 100-yard approach shot to a sloping green where nerves will undoubtedly be put to the test.

Hole 10                                         Par4 - 394 yards

This hole requires a fairly long and accurate drive in order to gain the position to hit a medium-range iron second shot to a small and well-protected target.

Hole 11                                         Par4 - 408 yards

Another lengthy par 4 which becomes slightly dog-leg left. The approach shot must be fired over water to a two-tiered green; therefore accuracy is the key to this hole.

Hole 12                                         Par3 - 164 yards

A tough short hole with water on the left and behind the green therefore wind could play an important factor here.

Hole 13                                         Par4 - 360 yards

An interesting tee-shot with water lurking left and right to catch any wayward drives, and then two bunkers positioned in the middle of the fairway 220 yards from the tee to add to the difficulty. The second shot only requires a short-range iron but the green is a narrow target.

Hole 14                                         Par5 - 513 yards

A straight par 5 that will need a strong following wind if one hopes to get home in two. There is water down to the left to contend with and with such a small green, birdies will not be easy.

Hole 15                                         Par4 - 440 yards

A long par 4, particularly if playing into a headwind, where the drive must be accurate in order to find this slightly raised green in two.

Hole 16                                         Par3 - 163 yards

This hole possesses all the elements of a good par 3 with a carry over water from tee to green, which is guarded on both sides by bunkers with quite a severe slope from back to front.

Hole 17                                         Par4 - 383 yards

An intimidating tee shot with water to the left and a well-positioned bunker to the right. It then requires a mid to long range iron to a small green surrounded by bunkers.

Hole 18                                         Par5 - 580 yards

A monster of a hole to finish the last nine. Water runs all down the left and within 200 yards of the green it is joined by water down to the right. The approach to a well-guarded and narrow kidney-shaped green so par will be more respectable on this hole.

Hole 19                                         Par4 - 431 yards

A straight away par 4 with a wide fairway Long hitters beware of the water on the left off the tee. A good drive will leave a medium iron to a long narrow green.

Hole 20                                         Par3 - 173 yards

Depending on the wind, this par 3 over water could play as little as a short iron, or a long iron if into the easterly wind. A multi tiered green with multiple pin placements makes for some challenging two putts.

Hole 21                                         Par4 - 361 yards

Longer hitters can carry the fairway bunker on the right, leaving a wedge approach and good birdie opportunity.

Hole 22                                         Par4 - 380 yards

Longer hitters will have the advantage if they position their tee shots on the right side of the fairway. Left side approaches will be obscured by the mound; from the right side players can see the green for a short iron approach and another birdie chance.

Hole 23                                         Par5 - 532 yards

Water down the left hand side. Brave tee shots will position the second shot for a chance at going for this par 5 in two. The prudent play is to play right off the tee to a generous landing area, then laying up for an easy approach with a wedge.

Hole 24                                         Par4 - 464 yards

Accuracy and length is required to reach the green in two shots, where once on the green a 2 putt is not guaranteed.

Hole 25                                         Par4 - 339 yards

A great short par 4. An intimidating tee shot with a driver or fairway wood over water. Once in the fairway a precision iron is required to a green tucked beside the lake and protected by a mound short and right.

Hole 26                                         Par3 - 212 yards

The only par 3 at Sun Island without a water carry. From a slightly elevated tee a long iron is needed to reach the large and semi tiered putting green. Favor the left side from the tee to avoid the large bunker front right of the green.

Hole 27                                        Par5 - 521 yards

Terrific finishing hole will reward the gambler. Downwind can be reached in two, but water guards the hole on the right side and the approach left of the green.
